Chronic diarrhoea can cause a lot of embarrassment and pain to the sufferer. If you are passing bowel more than three times a day, it means your condition can be considered chronic. In regular condition, the bowel is able to handle a lot of fluid on a daily basis and thus you won’t get diarrhoea even when you drink eight litres of water every day. The small intestine is able to absorb the fluid and thus your bowel will only contain enough moisture to soften the stool.
If the irregularity of bowel movement is caused by mild infection, your body can heal in approximately two to three weeks. All you need to do is drink a lot of water on a daily basis so that your body can eliminate the bacteria and toxin effectively. However, if your condition continues after the fourth week, you need to see a doctor immediately. Perhaps there are other factors triggering the diarrhoea. For example, bowel cancer can also cause frequent bowel movements, so you need to be sure about what you are having.
Peristalsis can also cause frequent bowel movements and watery stool. Those who are suffering from IBS or irritable bowel syndrome may have suffered from their condition due to peristalsis. Sometimes viral infection can also cause irregular bowel movements, so keep an eye on your condition and always refer to your doctor to get the right treatment.
